Alison's philosophy of practice is that a woman's body is able to grow, deliver, and
nurse a baby.  She understands that pregnancy is a wonderful time in women's
lives, and feels midwifery care should be fun.   Alison knows that trust and
confidence develop over time, which helps foster a normal and healthy process.
She believes that good prenatal care is a balance of nutrition, exercise, and also very
important, relaxation. What she does together with the mother is monitor the
parameters of well being.

Alison Osborn is a Licensed Midwife.  Like Midwives in Europe, Licensed Midwives
don't become nurses first.  Midwives' safety record has been documented in several
studies, which conclude that home birth attended by a midwife is safe.  California
Licensed Midwives attend  or challenge a three year program through Seattle
Midwifery School.  Many California Midwives learned through apprenticeship,
self-study, and internships at high-volume birth centers such as Casa de
Nacimiento, where Alison studied and later taught midwives from all over the world.
